About Traveller Job Club

The Traveller Job Club, also known as the Special Initiative for Travellers (SIT), is a free employment support service funded by the Department of Justice and Equality.

It is specifically designed to assist members of the Traveller and Roma communities who are ready to enter the employment market, providing dedicated, culturally sensitive support to help them access training, employment, and enterprise opportunities.

The programme is delivered by a dedicated Job Coach and Peer Support Officer who understand the unique circumstances and challenges faced by Traveller and Roma job seekers. From the very first meeting, the focus is on listening, understanding your individual goals, and building a plan that works for you.

Meeting locations are flexible to suit the needs of each job seeker, ensuring the service is as accessible as possible regardless of where you are in County Donegal.

How We Can Help

Our team begins by getting to know you. After an initial meeting to discuss your situation and goals, we carry out a needs assessment to identify your skills, interests, and career aspirations. From there, we work with you step by step to find the right opportunities and prepare you to take them.

Support is available at every stage of the journey, from exploring options and building skills to finding employers and settling into work. We also work directly with employers where needed, helping to ensure the workplace is the right fit for both sides.

TÚS placements are available across a broad range of roles including maintenance and caretaking, environmental work, administration, childcare, youth work, social care, community development, and more. Each placement is designed to provide real, hands-on experience in a setting that reflects your interests and abilities. Throughout your placement, you will be supported by a dedicated supervisor who ensures you are getting the most from the experience.

Community, voluntary, and non-profit organisations can apply to become TÚS sponsor groups, hosting participants who contribute to their work on a part-time basis. This provides your organisation with additional capacity to deliver services and projects that might otherwise be out of reach. Our team will support you throughout the process, from initial setup to ongoing placement management.
